And now a few words from me:

Hi! I’m Sam, and I’m very pleased to meet you. I’m kind of new around here; I came to Canada just a

few weeks ago after being found as a stray in Ohio. I have to say, life with my foster family is way better

than life on the streets! I’m really happy CDR brought me here and gave me a second chance to find my

forever family.

My foster mom says that I am a real sweetheart. I am a senior guy so my needs are pretty simple. I like to go for walks and I do pretty well on a leash. I also really like car rides, but make sure I am secure in the car because I will try to climb onto your lap and help you drive. I get along really well with the other dogs in my foster home, and I even like the cat – go figure! I definitely need to go to a home where I will have a canine companion. It would just be too lonely for me otherwise. I’m happiest when I can cuddle up next to you on the couch with a full tummy and sleep the day away. At night I like to sleep next to you in the big bed if you’ll let me, but I will also sleep in my crate quite happily as long as it is close to where you are. You see, I really need to be with my human family as much as possible. I really don’t like to be left alone, and will get quite upset and vocal when you leave me. Foster mom has been working on this with me, helping me build my confidence and reassuring me that she will return. I will need to go to a home where someone is willing to commit to continue this work and help me

to develop a sense of security and safety. I promise you that I’m worth it!!

I’m housebroken and will let you know when I need to go outside (pretty great for a dachshund, don’t ya think?), but if I’m left alone for too long I might still have an accident. I try really, really hard to be good, but I’m not always perfect. If you’re looking for a wonderful devoted senior companion to spend your days snuggled up with, then I’m the dog for you! Could you be the family for me?
