We are saddened to announce the sudden passing of Heidi, CDR alumnus.
Here are a few words from her loving owner:
When I got Heidi she was extremely overweight and very frightened. She
didn’t understand leashes and was very nervous. When I adopted Heidi I was
also going through rehabilitation following a serious accident. She was
always there for me when I can home and was always happy to see me. Heidi gave me strength. Heidi was my support network. Heidi, once extremely overweight, became my dependable hiking partner, sometimes trekking with me for up to 15 km. Over 4 years she became a fearless, fit, and happy young dog. Even without proper training, I could walk her off leash and she never ventured out of my view.
Heidi and I went everywhere possible together. And so, yesterday when I
was crossing at a crosswalk and a car mistakingly turned left without looking, we were hit together. Heidi was a typical moody and stubborn daschund, but she was the best dog anyone could ever ask for. She may have
only been in my life for 4 years, but I have many beautiful memories that
will never be forgotten.
I will miss Heidi dearly, and there isn’t enough I can say to thank her for
the happiness she brought to my life.
Our hearts go out to Heidi’s family and friends at this difficult time.
