Hi everyone, my name is Tommy. Nice to meet you. I’m a 6 year old, mini long-haired, red/black dachshund (and quite handsome if I do say so myself!).
I am a former kennel dog who is adjusting to life inside a home. It’s a little scary with all the new noises I’m hearing; so I’m somewhat jumpy when I hear something unfamiliar or if the people around me move a little too quickly.
I have a foster doxie brother, and I like him-he’s being very nice to me. I LOVE my food but I get worried that another dog will eat my food so I gobble it up really fast, or make a few trips to my food bowl until it’s all gone. I’ve learned how to use the doggy door here in my foster home; but my housetraining is still a work in progress!!
I really enjoy my foster mom and stay pretty close to her right now because she’s been so kind and loving to me-I didn’t know what it felt like to be loved until I came here. She likes to call me TomTom, and when she picks me up she tells me that I’m as light as a feather! I’ve met some new people since being here too. One of them is small, like myself and he is nice to me. I have also met some men, and they are very kind too. I will bark at strange noises, especially if my foster brother is doing it too; so a home is probably better for me than an apartment. Oh, and I’d love to have a brother or a sister to keep me company-unless you are going to be home all the time so we can spend all our time together!
Foster Mom has tried putting a leash on me to take me for a walk in the neighbourhood, but I’m much too scared to do that yet. I need some more time to settle into my new routine first. But I know with her patience and the promise of my very own fur-ever home, I will be able to accomplish all these new things and get everything right really soon!
Do you have a special place in your heart/home for a sweet wee fellow like myself
I sure do hope so??
Bye for now! Tommy
