And now a few words from me:
Well hello there, my name is Petey and I am in need of a forever home. I have already had two homes in my lifetime; the last one loved me but I did not like the visiting children. I am true to my breed and breeding. You see I am a Double Dapple, which gives me some unique qualities, such as my colouring. I am handsome and very distinguished looking. But being a Double Dapple can also mean visual and hearing impairments. In my case, my vision isn’t perfect but my hearing has not been affected. I love humans and other confident dogs. This is where I am true to my breed – I am a full-on hunter. I love to hunt for squirrels, chipmunks and birds etc., and my prey drive extends to cats as well (and I don’t mean just to chase them). I also do not tolerate young kids due to past experience. Do you have a special spot for a fellow like me in your family?
And now a few words from my foster family:
Petey is a great character, and he really likes being with other confident dogs of any size – he just does not do well with dogs that are highly anxious. His prey drive towards wildlife is high, and while on walks he is always on guard for squirrels and chipmunks lurking about. Petey does not tolerate cats at all. His ideal home is one with a family of mature humans who will walk him (he loves walks of up to 5 km in the non-snowy months of the year), and then who will snuggle with him and play. He does really well with another confident dog in the house that also loves to play. Even though he is 10 years old, he is more like a happy, young boy. Petey is an amazing, “youthful” senior dog looking for an amazing home to be with great humans and a canine sister or brother.
