And now a few words from me:
Hi, I’m Charlie and I’m looking forward to meeting you and getting a new furever home. I came to CDR when my former owner was no longer well enough to look after me and my canine friend, Chrissy. We were sad to leave but we have been having fun in the big back yard at foster mom’s. We had never been in a car before or stayed in a crate. I’m learning good car manners but it has been hard. I’ve discovered there are things to watch out the window and well, I get excited. I don’t like to be crated but foster mom caught me sleeping in an open one the other day (opps, she might get an idea). When I first arrived and I thought foster mom was going to put me in the crate, I hid under the bed. However, I’m realizing that she doesn’t put me in there but lets me stay in a room by myself. She feeds the other dogs in their crates so maybe crates aren’t as bad as I think. I love to sleep under the covers in the big bed and I’ve learned to use the doggie stairs to get on the bed. Foster mom wants me to use them to get off the bed too so I won’t hurt my back.
I’ve started to play with the resident dachshund and Jack Russell Terrier mix. Right now, we mostly mouth wrestle. One night, I had a great time taking turns chasing the resident dachshund while foster mom stood and laughed at us. I don’t know why she thought it was so funny, we were just having fun. Foster mom took us to the dog park and let me run on a 12 foot leash so I had some freedom as well as meeting some other people and dogs. However, I kept checking to make sure foster mom was still there, I didn’t want to lose her.
I have lovely silky short red hair and lots of energy. Foster mom tells me I have a really cute butt. My tail is always wagging, especially if you talk to me. Foster mom calls me her Velcro dog. I love to be held and will ask her to pick me up. Sometimes, foster mom gets frustrated with me because she is busy and I won’t settle without being picked up. At other times, I realize she is busy and will go for a nap. I am starting to play with toys a bit.
Foster mom has been great but I want get settled in my new home. It would be great if I could be adopted with Chrissy but I will also be okay on my own. My perfect family will have lots of time to cuddle with me and take me for walks. I’d love to be in a house with a back yard so I can run and play.
